P2 Varicam 3700: Emmy nominated DP Mark Doering-Powell shares his experience with the camera during the Camera Assessment Series (CAS) Tests
From feature films and television episodics to high-end commercial work, Panasonic’s 1080p VariCam 3700 delivers the cinematic image quality you need with a fast, proven AVC-Intra/DVCPRO HD nonlinear workflow. The native 10-bit, 4:2:2 1080p P2 HD VariCam with dual-link 4:4:4 output was tested in the recent Producers Guild of America/American Society of Cinematographers Camera Assessment Series (CAS), which examined the performance of the industry’s top-tier production cameras (e.g., the VariCam 3700, Sony F23, Panavision Genesis, Grass Valley Viper, and RED One). Emmy-nominated DP Mark Doering-Powell (Everybody Hates Chris, ABC’s 10 Things I Hate About You, My Boys and Seeing Other People) discusses his experience shooting with the VariCam 3700. This intensive will give an overview of the rigorous testing and cover best practices including color correction techniques, using Film-Rec 600 for increased dynamic range, post-production and the 4:4:4 output to DPX workflow, archiving and more.
