Gary Adcock, NAB Technology Chair for HD Solutions Post Production 2006

Chicago based artist and technology trainer Gary Adcock, having worked as a producer, photographer, cameraman, editor, director and general techno geek, is currently consulting and training in HD and Film production after finishing recent projects for Target, IPG, Tribune Media, Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson –Detroit.

As Chair for the HD Track at NAB 2006 national meeting, he is a speaker at numerous industry events on HD acquisition and production, evident in the 184 presentations relating to HD in given 2005.

Other clients include Adobe, Apple, A&E, Blockbuster Entertainment, Citibank, Discovery Channel, Erricson, Fox News Network, H&R Block, McDonalds, Miller Brewing, MSNBC, NBA Entertainment, Orlando Sentinel, Panasonic, Sears, Sony, Sun Sentinel, Taco Bell, TLN, Tribune Entertainment, and United Airlines.


John J. Cerquone, National Sales Manager, Production & Post-Production Products, MIRANDA TECHNOLOGIES INC.

John Cerquone brings more than 15 years of broadcast industry experience to his current role as National Sales Manager for Production &
Post-Production Products with Miranda Technologies.

His current position involves establishing and managing a specialized vertical channel of resellers and rental houses to distribute and market
Miranda's interfacing solutions including HDV and DV production interfaces, newsgathering and electronic acquisition interfaces, and
computer graphics to video interfaces.

John formally held sales management positions with both Sony Electronics and Avid Technology and successfully launched his own rep firm CER-TEC, a sales and marketing company that handled over 30 manufacturers in the Northeast.

An active member of SMPTE since 1989, he has most recently served the Rochester, NY Section as Chairman and continues to maintain a sustaining membership with the SBE.


Terry Cullen, Founder and President, 1 Beyond, Inc

Terry Cullen is Founder and President of 1 Beyond, Inc., a video systems company, which he established in 1996 after being frustrated that he was not able to find a reasonably priced editing system to edit many hours of footage from a winter sailing sabbatical.   A computer specialist, electrical engineer and successful entrepreneur, Terry previously founded and ran a semiconductor test equipment company, SemiTech International, and was president of a PC board test company.  Earlier, he headed product management at a high-end graphics workstation company, held various management and engineering positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and began his career at Westinghouse Research Labs.  He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Ohio Northern University and the Harvard Business School Owner-President Management Program.


Jim HurwitzJim Hurwitz, Telecast Fiber Optics, Product Manager, On-Camera and E-Cinema Products

Jim Hurwitz is currently the Product Manager for On-Camera and E-Cinema Products at Telecast Fiber Systems.

With more than 24 years of industry experience, Jim has been responsible for the definition and development of Telecast’s CopperHead™ product line, which won Broadcast Engineering Magazine's Best of Show at NAB2001. CopperHead has since become the industry standard for camera-mounted fiber optic links.

Jim manages the company’s relationships with the world’s leading camera manufacturers, as well as broadcasters, sports venues, and the emerging Hollywood Electronic Cinema marketplace. He also manages Telecast’s sales, support and marketing efforts in the Western United States.

Jim serves as Chairman of the Technology Committee of the Information and Display Entertainment Association (IDEA), the international association of electronic display system and scoreboard operators within the sports, entertainment and convention industries. Members include most of North America’s professional baseball and football stadiums, hockey and basketball arenas, as well as race tracks, convention centers, universities and casinos.

Prior to Jim’s five years with Telecast, he ran the wireless video division at Telex Communications, which began as a startup company he founded in his garage. The winner of multiple local Emmy awards, he previously worked as a network and local newscast and field news producer, editor and videographer. He has also been granted several patents for broadcast camera accessories, and has another patent pending.

Jim has a BA in Mass Communications and English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, and did his graduate work at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he helped create two award-winning documentaries: “The Four Corners” (AMPAS Student Academy Awards, 1983, assistant editor) and “Contents Under Pressure” (American Film Institute, National Video Festival, Northwest Region, 1985, Director of Photography). He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.


Jim McKenna, Vice President and Chief Facilitator, Facilis Technology

Jim McKenna is an industry veteran whose experience brings both the artistic and engineering perspectives to light. As vice president of sales and marketing, McKenna is responsible for the market adoption of Facilis’ flagship product, TerraBlock, a virtual-volume, high performance SAN solution. Mr. McKenna has built a network of professional resellers and international partnerships and distributors. TerraBlock systems are now used throughout North America, Europe and Asia to solve a multitude

of bandwidth, connectivity and collaboration needs at affordable prices.

Prior to joining Facilis in it’s startup stage, Mr. McKenna was Director of Engineering at PostWorks NY, LLC where he also served as an Avid Symphony and DS artist. Previously Mr. McKenna was a product designer for Avid Technology Workgroup Solutions for Post Production. He has a bachelor’s degree in Film Production.


Scott Stevens, Regional Account Manager for Post Production, Eastman Kodak Company- Entertainment Imaging Division

Scott Stevens is the Regional Account Manager for Post Production for Eastman Kodak Company’s Entertainment Imaging Division and is based in their New York City office.

Prior to joining Kodak in 1986 Scott worked as a Systems Engineer in the video broadcast and Post-Production industries. In addition to his current responsibilities of supporting Post-Production Facilities and Labs throughout the eastern US Scott has spent time working in Kodak’s Motion Picture Hybrid R&D and Operations organizations in Rochester, NY.

His career at Kodak has involved the engineering, design and startup of Kodak’s closed circuit satellite video network and the establishment of Cinesite. Cinesite is a wholly owned Kodak subsidiary with facilities in Hollywood and London that specializes in providing digital postproduction and special effects services to the motion picture industry.


Russ Walker, National Director - Production & Post Solutions, Panasonic Broadcast
& Television Systems Company

Russ Walker is currently the National Director of Production and Post Solutions for Panasonic Broadcast and Television Systems Company. With 25 years of industry experience, Russ has been instrumental in the launch of High Definition Products at Panasonic since their introduction in 1997. Prior to Russ’s nine years with Panasonic Russ was the President of Hoffman Video Systems, a Los Angeles based systems integrator for eleven years and prior to Hoffman Video Systems, Russ was the Western Regional Manager for Sony Professional Video Systems.

Russ has been instrumental in Panasonic’s launch of D5HD, the defacto standard for High Definition Mastering for the Motion Picture and Television Industry and Russ was responsible for the launch of DVCPRO HD at Panasonic, where the Varicam has become the number one most used HD Camcorder in the Production Industry in the USA and around the world. Panasonic has received National Technical Emmy Awards for both the AJ-HD3700 D5 multi-format High Definition Master Recorder and the AJ-HDC27 Varicam variable frame rate high definition camcorder.


Craig Yanagi, National Marketing Manager - Creation Products, JVC

Wayne, NJ (January 3, 2006) — JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today announced the appointment of Craig Yanagi, as national marketing manager, creation products to its marketing team. In his new position, Mr. Yanagi will play an instrumental role in the development of the division’s annual business plan and its business goals of expanding JVC’s creation product line into new markets.

Throughout his career, Mr. Yanagi has created award-winning marketing programs and has extensive operations experience in Consumer, Media, Broadcast and Professional product lines.

As national marketing manager, creation products, Mr. Yanagi will be responsible for market analysis, business planning and development, new product pricing and launches, sales forecasting as well as fostering key third-party relationships. He is also responsible for creating high-impact marketing programs for JVC’s ProDV, ProHD, DVD and tape decks products.

There he was responsible for account management of the largest broadcast and professional system integrators in the U.S., provided customers with system solutions, managed domestic and international large-scale project sales involving multiple groups. He also served other roles at Sony such as market development manager, national marketing manager and senior business analyst.
