LEADER INSTRUMENTS INTENSIVE WORKSHOP:

Maximizing The Performance Of Your HD Camera

A 2-hour educational event describing the various adjustments possible in preparing
a camera for production. In this class you’ll learn how to “tweak” your camera to achieve it’s full potential to deliver accurate color and tonal response. We will discuss issues affecting exposure and color such as gamma, pedestal, toe and knee, color space and the matrix, and how to use color correction to align your camera.

Bottom line, this seminar shows you how to maximize the performance of your pro-video camera. Whether you own a VariCam or Cine-Alta, an SDX900 or the digibeta, or rent one of the many new “hybrid” cameras that can produce film-like images, or continue working with earlier generations of DVCPro, one thing is clear : Your camera is not just a camera anymore. It’s also a processor… a processor with many menus and choices unfamiliar to most shooters.

We start our presentation by providing a foundation on basic video theory and briefly discuss digital video measurements. Video measurement tools are explained and a relationship between waveform monitor measurements and f-stops is explained. The serial digital video signal is also explained with specific emphasis on levels, dynamic range and color space. Once we establish a knowledge base on digital video measurements, we move on to discuss camera adjustments and the capabilities and versatility afforded by today’s cameras.

Here, we will share a number of examples with the audience as related to camera setup and signal measurement. Camera balancing and setup along with a variety of examples are discussed with emphasis on how to evaluate the signal in order to optimize the production shot.

The process begins by analyzing the lens and CCD combination and correcting for unwanted flare and white shading. We will show you how to interpret video measurements to determine if your camera exhibits any negative symptoms in this regard and how to correct for them. The mysteries of the matrix will be demystified and the result will be that your camera will achieve it’s full potential to capture accurate, saturated color and natural skin tones.

Whether you’re a videographer who wants a film look or a film-shooter making the switch to video, this seminar is for you… we keep it straight and simple, just plain-talk and along the way you’ll learn how to set up and optimize your camera for those award winning shots.

Time will be provided at the end of the presentation for questions and answers. Depending on room availability, the equipment will also remain set up after the presentation to address complex questions that may require equipment use to obtain the answers.” Click here to register now.
