Lighting, Filters + Gels for HD Workshop
Learn techniques that will improve the "look" of your work

This workshop provides a rare opportunity not only to become familiar with a vast range of lighting tools, but also to learn the effective use of those tools under working conditions.  Led by a professional Director of Photography (DP), through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants will learn a vast array of lighting techniques which will improve the “look” of their work.  We will demonstrate how filters and gels can allow you to create images that provide style and substance.  We will introduce the latest industry developments in crafting images with fewer and more efficient lighting tools. We will show you how to light for close-ups, 2-shots, medium shots and wide shots.  

Four major shooting situations will be lit to create: day interior, day exterior, and night interior and night exterior. Concepts to be demonstrated include: analysis of light sources, use of “practicals”, control of the lighting ratio, lighting design and how to shoot HD for a “natural” look. Prior to the shoot, we will create lighting diagrams, learn the organization and contents of a professional grip truck and a wide variety of mounting hardware will be demonstrated.  During the hands-on shooting exercises, the proper use of lighting control devices will be incorporated into the set-ups, including, C-stands, silks, flags, diffusion materials, gobos, cookies, a wide variety of gels and the latest cutting- edge lens filters and matte boxes.  In addition, we will explain and demonstrate electrical power distribution systems, high voltage tie-ins and safety considerations.  A full professional complement of lights including the latest tungsten, HMIs, Kino Flos and LEDs and grip equipment will be provided.

Upon finishing the 3 days of instruction you will be awarded a certificate of completion From HD EXPO.
