HD EXPO March 2008 Speakers David S. Cohen,, Associate Editor, Features, Variety David S. Cohen is a journalist, editor, photographer and documentary filmmaker who has covered entertainment, arts, science and global business for publications around the world. He has been a frequent contributor to Variety's special reports since 1999, joining the newsroom as a copy editor in 2002 and becoming a film reporter covering Revolution Studios in 2004. He began his journalism career as the first Los Angeles entertainment stringer for the South China Morning Post of Hong Kong, and is a regular contributor to Variety sister publications Video Business and Tradeshow Week. He also worked in showbiz for more than twenty years, as everything from casting agent to an off-off-broadway stage director and even as a writer for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." In 2001 he wrote and co-produced the award-winning documentary "Silver Dreamer: The Journey of Luo Yan," which filmed in the U.S. and China. He is currently working on a book based on his popular Script Magazine "From Script to Screen" features. Event: Does technology define the audience or does the audience define technology?
